the challenges of the competitive job market.

 To acquaint students with the field’s theoretical tradition.
 To engage students in field works thereby facilitating an environment for the application of theories learnt in the class room situation.
 To enable students to critically asses the contemporary socio-political events and earmark practical solutions to these problems.
 To provide a conducive environment for students enabling them to hone those skills that are in demand in the job market.

 

Introduction

 

Department of Political Science was introduced in the year 1989-90 at the time of introduction of Arts Stream at Golaghat Commerce College. Later in the session 1997-98 Major in Political Science introduced. The first faculty member of this department was Mrs. Manabi Hazarika. After that Mrs. Shyamali Goswami took the charge of this department from Mrs. Hazarika. Both left this department as well as the college due to some obviousreasons. Mrs. Mandira Bora took charge of the department in 1994 and since then it has been running successfully under the guidance and headship of Mrs. Bora. There are other three faculty members, namely Mr. Debojit Dutta, Mrs. Monorama Saikia and Mr. Bhaskar Kakoti who joined this department in 1995, 1989 and 2000 respectively. From 4 th December 2020 Mr.Bhaskar Kakati has been performing asthe Head of the Department
