Seva-Hi- Samparpan Program at Golaghat Commerce College:
On September 19, 2025, Golaghat Commerce College (Autonomous), located in Jyoti Nagar, Golaghat, Assam, successfully conducted a tree plantation program. This initiative aligned with the Central Government’s “Seva Parv” (Festival of Service) and the weeklong “Seva Saptah” program promoted by the Government of Assam. The event exemplified the spirit of “Seva-Hi-Samparpan” (Service through Dedication and Surrender), emphasizing a selfless contribution to environmental sustainability and community well-being.
The program was organized as part of broader national and state efforts to promote environmental conservation, mirroring similar initiatives across educational institutions in Assam. The respected principal of Golaghat Commerce College Dr. Utpal Sarma, Mrs. Anamika Hazarika (Vice Principal), faculty members Mr. Bhaskar Kakati, Mrs. Sharmila Dutta Tamuli, Dr. Abhijit Hazarika and Mr. Ankur Bora along with students planted 75 saplings of indigenous tree species (procured from the Social forestry Nursery, Golaghat Division) suitable for the region’s ecology, enhancing the campus’s green cover and promoting biodiversity. The activity involved hands-on participation, fostering a sense of responsibility among attendees toward climate action.
